The development in the fields of broadcasting services and wireless communication requires an evaluation of existing immunity thresholds. For new broadcasting and services the thread for an automobile needs to be evaluated and thresholds need to be adjusted.
For that purpose a new system GPS-based Electromagnetic Acquisition System (GEMAS) is developed to measure in the real world electric or magnetic fields, linked with GPS-coordinates. This system shows the fields in a vector street map the route that was observed with the measurement system.
In order to acquire the measurement data different measurement receivers or spectrum analyzers are integrated into the system. Furthermore an opportunity to acquire data of the CAN bus (CAN-engine, CAN-comfort, CAN-infotainment) via CANoe monitor cards is given.

GPS-based Electromagnetic Acquisition System (GEMAS) Main Features:
- Possibility to establish fast and reliable connection between hardware (Spectrum Analyzer, GPS-receiver, Electric Field Probe, CAN card)
- Possibility to acquire data from a spectrum analyzer and GPS-receiver according to the user-defined parameters
- Possibility to acquire data from electric field probe according to the user-defined parameters
- Real-time data visualization in different modes
- Emulation mode allows to run GEMAS in training mode without actual connection to the hardware
- Replay mode based on previously acquired data which allows simulation of data acquisition process without actual connection to the hardware
- Real-time filtering of acquired data
- Road map synchronized with GPS receiver that displays measurement values according to antenna locations at each time point
- Different modes of graphical visualization, waterfall diagrams, 2D plotting of frequency/value and time/value dependencies
- Opportunity to acquire data of the CAN bus via CANoe cards
- Powerful reporting wizard
